How to make your own business cards

May 7th, 2008 by Lee

I would not recommend making your own business card unless you have a firm idea in place and think you can pull it off and are talented with photoshop or another graphic design program, try to source out designers who can put your thoughts into art, there are literally thousands of good business card designers on the net and they will design you a cracking card for as little as $10 right upto $1000, but price doesn’t always mean quality, here are some ways to find the right designer for your business card:

1. Hold a competition on a large webmaster forum, these sites can be very active and contain some very talented designers simply put together your ideas for the business card announce a cash prize and watch the designers put in their entries and choose the best one, this way you can pick from multiple designs for the price of one, if you have a high cash prize the chances are you will get more entrants.

2. Search Forums/Sites for recommendations, the Internet is a wealth of knowledge and if you are looking for a business card design then you should use this to your advantage, people always like to recommend good designers & designers always show off their latest works of art.

3. When you find the right designer always ask them to do more than one mock up of your idea, tell them you want to see the design in different colors and fonts, this way you can mix and match the ones you like and give the designer a better idea of exactly what you want.

3 Tips to stop potential clients throwing your business card in the bin

May 7th, 2008 by Lee

Designing your own business card can sometimes be a very awkward process, as you want to send out the right message to potential clients and tell them exactly what you do, but at the same time you have to keep it simple and not overwhelm your potential client with to much information and leave them with no clue on what exactly your business is about. Here are some tips that you should follow to make a perfect business card:

  1. Always include your name, address, phone number(s) & email, this will allow potential clients to contact you.
  2. Try to sum up your business in 4-5 words, people don’t want to be confused as to who they got the card from they want to know exactly what your company does and if you cant sum it up in a few words then try harder.
  3. Add something a little different, a business card should stand out, because if you are handing them out chances are that someone else has handed him a card maybe with the same service, who do you think the client will call? the one with the business card that is plain & boring? i think not the first call will most likely go to the coolest business card
